Union Grove - Allen Harry Peterson, age 89, passed away July 23, 2024. He was born March 21, 1935, the oldest son of Harry and Annie (Larsen) Peterson.

Allen graduated from Union Grove High School in 1954. He lived and worked at the Perry and Clara Vyvyan farm before and after his military service. Allen served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957 and then in the Reserves until 1959. His service duty was spent in Alaska.

From the fall of 1958 to the spring of 1959, Allen attended the Farm & Industry Short Course at UW Madison. In 1959, Allen began his working career at C&D Duck Farm, retiring in 2000 from Maple Leaf Farms.

On July 18, 1964, he was united in marriage to Karen Hansen. Allen is survived by his wife and children, Erick (Lisa) and Sarah, and grandchildren, Seth and Lila. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert, John, and Dave; sister-in-law, Sandy Pagel; brother-in-law, Allen (Mary) Hansen; and 15 nephews and nieces. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Doris; brother-in-law, Darrel Pagel; and nephew, Jim; and his father and mother-in-law, Nelsen and Edna Hansen.

In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held. He has been cremated, and his final resting place will be at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
