Barbara Ann Oviedo

Barbara Ann “Barb” Oviedo (Appendfelt), 70, of Union Grove, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026, at her residence. She was born April 21, 1956, Carl and Elizabeth (Kelly) Appenfeldt in Missouri. A self-proclaimed “Army Brat,” Barb and her family moved several times during her growing up providing her with many wonderful and varied experiences. The family finally landed in Wisconsin and Barb graduated from Watertown High School. She worked for 37 years at Nestle Corporation in Burlington as a department supervisor. During her tenure, she made a name for herself, earning numerous awards and accolades recognizing dedication to her job and staff and excellence in all that she contributed to the company. Barb was the proud inventor of several successful candy items including but not limited to Buncha Crunch. While working at Nestle, Barb (nearly) ran into Venustiano Oviedo and over time they fell in love, marrying February 1, 1985.

Growing up, she worked at her parents’ bar and during high school became quite the pool shark. She would keep up this hobby through her whole life, and she and her husband were unbeatable as a team. Barb loved watching football, especially cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and spending time with her sons watching wrestling. Barb’s cooking was the best around; everyone raved about her lasagna, chili rellenos…everything! She loved to laugh and have fun and enjoyed life. Her tie-dyed Jeep was the outward display of her joy for life. Journey was her favorite band, and she absolutely loved music and good concerts. She may have been described as strict, but she expected excellence from those around her. It made her the best mother ever – always involved with her children and grandchildren. Her family cherishes her and has many beloved memories.

Barb is survived by her husband, Venustiano; her children, Damion (Cheri) Oviedo, Vincent Oviedo, Anthony Oviedo, Vanessa (Justin) Hankins, and Venustiano II Oviedo (Maria Ortiz); grandchildren, Justyce, Mayson, Morgan, Kloe, Elyzabeth, Michael, Justin, Jimmy, and Trinity; and her brother, Bill Appendfeldt.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Butch Appenfeldt.

Visitation and celebration of Barb’s life will be held Saturday, August 29 from 11 am – 1 pm at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home.
