Franklin – Bernadine "Bernie" Poczekaj, 87, peacefully passed away on June 15, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born May 15, 1935 to Michael and Charlotte Rozen in Chicago, Illinois. She went to the most beautiful church and grade school St. John Cantius in Chicago. Bernie continued her education going to the Professional Secretary School. She ended up making a career as a self-employed beautician. On September 8, 1956, she married the love of her life, Thomas J Poczekaj. They were married for 57 wonderful years till Tom's passing in 2014. They lovingly raised three sons together. They began their married life in Chicago, IL and later Buffalo Grove and McHenry. After Tom retired, they moved to Arizona and then to Arkansas. Finally, they moved to Franklin Wi. to be close to family.

She was a very active and loving mother to her three sons. She continued being involved with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bernie loved crafting and was even a master embroider. She loved spending time with her red hat ladies and playing cards with her good friends. Volunteering was always important as long as her health would allow with Everyday Senior Care and at New Perspectives with bingo and manicuring nails. She loved spending time with her family more than anything.

Bernie is survived by her loving sons; Michael (Sandra Hintz) Poczekaj, Ken (Priscilla) Poczekaj, and Don Poczekaj (Nicole DeMoss); her grandchildren, Kenny (Ruthie) Poczekaj, Shannon (Mike) Watson, and Ashley Poczekaj; and her great-grandchildren, Bella , Spencer, Piper, Camden and Nash. She is also survived by her sister Patricia (Bob) Cincetti; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and good friends. Jess Jesse and Michael Swiatek.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and infant daughter Susan.

Visitation with Bernie's family and friends will be held at St. Martin's Church in 7933 S 116th St, Franklin, WI 53132 on June 23, 2022 from 9:30 – 11 am. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11am.
