Betty D. Grum

Betty D. Grum, 83, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on September 10, 2026.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 21, 1942, she was raised by her parents, Eleanore and Curt Esbrook. She graduated from Carl Schurz High School in Irving Park, Illinois.

A devoted Catholic, Betty was active in several church communities, singing in choirs and attending Mass. She was known as a social butterfly, beloved by her friends, neighbors, and all she met. She loved being a member of the Red Hat Society. Kind and generous, she was always thoughtful and willing to help anyone in need. She loved her family, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her favorite thing to do.

Betty married the love of her life, Bruce Grum, on October 26, 2006.

Betty is survived by her husband, Bruce; her children, Laurie Ferris, Julie (Don) Decker, and Dr. David (Indus) Kreutz; her grandchildren, Ryan, Holly, Austin (Liz), Jocelyn (Kyle), and Ian (Amanda); her great-grandchildren, Evan, Nate, Ellie, Amelia, AJ, Camila, Tripp, Aria, and Layla; her sister, Joan Dymitrowicz; and her beloved dog, Rosie.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson-in-law, Andy Mielke; her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Howard Calkins; and her brother-in-law, Chester Dymitrowicz.

Thoughts from Her Children

Our wonderful mom, Betty, loved Jesus with her whole heart her entire life. Today, as her family kisses her goodbye, she will see Him face to face. We have been so blessed to have a mother who taught us about God and showed us, by the way she lived, how to be kind, loving, grateful, giving, and caring.

Services

Visitation for family and friends will take place Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3126 95th Street, Sturtevant, Wisconsin. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring Street, Union Grove, Wisconsin.
