Carol Killackey Luhn, 84, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, was promoted to glory on May 8, 2016 (Mother's Day) after a short battle with complications following surgery. She was surrounded in love by her husband, her children and their spouses at the time of her death.

Carol was born on June 5, 1931 in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan to her parents Robert and Pansy Killackey. She spent her childhood years as part of the Detroit Grandale Corps. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Herbert Luhn of Kenosha, WI and her five children Earl (Deb) Luhn of Bristow, VA, Loreen (Jerry) Henderson of Greensboro, NC, Collette (Robert) Webster of Indianapolis, IN, Paul (Peggy) Luhn of Woodstock, IL and William (Shari) Luhn of Bristol, WI. Carol was always encouraged by her nine grandchildren, Lisa (Dan) Bell, David Webster, Matthew (Heather) Luhn, Mark Luhn, Andi Henderson, Jacob Luhn, Jesse Luhn, Mason Luhn and Alex Henderson. Carol also was blessed by her two great grandchildren Miles Bell and Anderson Bell.

Major Carol Luhn faithfully served the Lord with her husband Major Herbert Luhn as active Salvation Army officers for 42 years with appointments together in Wausau, WI, Green Bay, WI, Kansas City, MO, Alpena, MI, Owosso, MI, Detroit Citadel, Dearborn Heights, MI, Flint, MI, Eastern Michigan Divisional Headquarters, School for Officers Training, and Territorial Headquarters. Major Carol continued her service as a retired officer and worked for 13 years at Territorial Headquarters in the Corrections Department.

Carol may be best known for her gift of hospitality. She was an outstanding cook and always shared her baked goods with her friends and family. She would often make her famous cream puffs and share them with individuals who may have needed just a little bit of love and encouragement.

One of her favorite places to gather with friends and family was at her cottage on Piatt Lake. This is a very special place to all of the Luhn family as together they built this home with their own blood, sweat and tears. The favorite attraction at the lake was the evening coffee cruise with their friends. This cruise left at 7:30 sharp and generated some of the family's favorite story telling times in recorded history. Yes, it is all recorded in the log book!

She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at The Salvation Army in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. The corps is located at 8853 S. Howell Drive, Oak Creek, Wisconsin 53154.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorial gifts be made to The Salvation Army in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.
