Raymond – Carol Marie "Babe" Koel (nee Snell), aged 81, passed away on October 13, 2016 at Wheaton Fransiscan-All Saints Hospital. She was born December 25, 1934 to Edward and Georgia (nee Ester) Snell in Spooner, WI. She graduated from Spooner High School and went on to earn a Bachelor Degree in Education from Carthage College. Carol married James Koel on June 18, 1955 in Spooner, WI. They were married for 31 years prior to his passing in 1986. James was the love of her life and she never remarried. Carol taught for many years at St. Louis and St. Stephen's schools. Free time was spent dancing, golfing, and flower gardening. She was talented at needlework and did knitting, crocheting, and hand quilting, leaving her family with many beloved heirlooms. After she retired from teaching, Carol worked at Otto Paap part time and enjoyed the socializing this gave her.

Carol is survived by her children; Paula (William) Deden, Jean Grabarec (Brian Lojeski), Nancy (Robert) Wang, Karen (George) Ladwig; grandchildren, Brandon (Sarah) Deden, Jeffrey (Ashley) Grabarec, Rebecca (Matthew) Frank, Daniel (Kelly) Wang, and Jamie Wang (Tim Nees); great-grandchildren, Tyler and Trent Deden, Ravenna Grabarec, and Levi Frank; special family members, Jaimee Lojeski (Tyler Kostos), Cody Schwartz, and Alyssa (Jeff) Todd; son-in-law, Robert (Jeannie) Grabarec; brother, Darrel Snell; and many other family and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents, Edward and Georgia Snell; and her siblings, Marge, Verna, and Dorothy.

Private family services will be held.
