Burlington—Carolyn A. (Petie, Nanny) Heusdens, age 91, passed away quietly in her sleep on March 16th at the Union Grove Veterans Home with family at her side. She was born to Anna and Erwin Holz on October 1, 1925. Raised in Racine, she graduated from Horlick High School where she met her future husband, Frederick. They were married on August 16, 1946 after his return from service in World War II. While living in Racine they had three children and later moved west to Union Grove, then Kansasville and finally, to Burlington. They have been life-long members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Racine.

Among other positions Carolyn worked as a nurse's aide prior to her retirement in 1987. Throughout her lifetime she was an avid fisherman, vacationed and camped at Shawano Lake, and cooked large meals for family celebrations. In their RV, Carolyn and Fred enjoyed traveling to various states, often to visit family. An occasional trip to the slot machines made her eyes twinkle.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Frederick, and three children Lynn (Larry), Kaye, and Mark (Luann); grandchildren Brandon (Autumn), Melissa (Chris), Erin, Fred and Vicki; great-grandchildren Aidan, Tallen, Alyvia, and Connor.

Visitation will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 3011 Erie St, Racine, from 11:00 a.m. to 12 Noon on Wednesday, March 22nd, with a service at Noon, and followed by interment at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Aurora at Home Hospice (Burlington) or St. Paul's Lutheran Church (Racine).
