Catherine (Cathy) Louise Fischer passed away peacefully in her home on April 15, 2025, after a full and wonderful life. She was born on August 20, 1935, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she lived her whole life in a community she loved. While her childhood was sometimes difficult, she loved her sisters and her stepmother Gertrude Frister. She married her sweetheart James Fischer on October 30, 1954. They raised five children together in a house on 39th Street where they lived for 40 years. She was a dedicated and hard-working mother. As her children grew, she worked in many jobs outside the home including a dialysis center at a local hospital for 23 years, sharing her love and kindness with the patients she served.

Cathy and her family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 1960s, and she was a devoted member of the Oak Creek Ward. Serving in the nursery was her favorite calling, she loved being with the little ones. She also enjoyed her time as a service missionary with her husband. She always cared for the missionaries, feeding them and inviting them into her home. Her many acts of kind service for those around her will be remembered. For many years she has been looking forward to a joyous reunion with her son Mark who died as a young missionary.

She was a talented seamstress and made dolls and Christmas jammies for her grandchildren. She also handstitched beautiful quilt tops and enjoyed creative hobbies up until the end. She loved her family and her grandchildren that lived in Utah and Wisconsin. She will be remembered by her family for her delicious famous recipes, her sassy sense of humor, her enjoyment of card games, and the deep love she felt and expressed for each one of them. She will be missed. She is survived by her loving husband James Fischer; her children Matthew (Wendy) Fischer, Michael (Lyn) Fischer, Melissa (Tim) Pietrzak, Martin (Dodie) Fischer; eleven grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren (with one more coming this week); and her sister Florence. She is preceded in death by her son Mark Fischer; her sisters Marge Johnson and Addy Krasmen.

Her service will be held this coming Monday, April 21, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Milwaukee Wisconsin South Stake Center, 9600 W. Grange Ave., Hales Corners WI, with the viewing at 10 am and the funeral at 11 am.
