Union Grove – Cheryll Lynn Nelson (nee McCabe), 62, passed away unexpectedly from complications of a sudden illness on April 14, 2016 at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born July 2, 1953 to Jack and Shirley (nee Keiser) McCabe in Milwaukee, WI. She graduated from New Berlin High School in 1971. Cheryll graduated from University of Wisconsin-Osh Kosh in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech and Language Pathology. She earned her Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology from UW-White Water in 1980. Cheryll married Donald Lee Nelson on August 22, 1975 and together they raised two children. Cheryll worked for CESA 2 from 1975-1985 when she decided to stay home and care for her children until she went back to work in 2002. She most recently worked at 21st Century Preparatory School. Cheryll's passion in life was for her grandsons and being "Gamma" and taking care of her boys meant everything to her. Cheryll was a voracious reader and especially enjoyed fantasy, historical fiction, and sci-fi genres. She also loved the Star Trek family of movies. Cheryll loved spending time with Don and their family at their property in Beacher. Cheryll's work was so important to her and her "work kids" were some of the loves of her life.

Cheryll is survived by her husband, Donald; their children, Ryan (Marlena) Nelson and Melissa (Dale Pinzino) Nelson; their grandchildren, Dane, James, and Owen Pinzino. She is also survived by her siblings, Michael (Sheila) McCabe, Paula McCabe, Kevin (Taunya) McCabe, and Rick (Gwen) McCabe; Donald's siblings, Dolores (Alan) Rettler, Judy (Joe) Lakota, Vicki (Dick) Gay, Diane (Lou) Milke, and Jennifer (Bill) Nelson; and sisters-in-law, Joy Nelson and Brenda Nelson.

Cheryll was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Josephine Pinzino; her parents, Jack and Shirley McCabe; Donald's parents, Ruth Nelson and Warren (Lenny) Nelson; and Donald's brothers, John Nelson and Len Nelson.

A Celebration of Cheryll's life will be held at Racine Instinctive Bowman, Inc., at 14403 50th Rd, Sturtevant, WI 53177 on April 21, 2016 from 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm.
