Christine "Chris" Long, age 76 of Racine, WI passed away peacefully at her home after a long battle with lung cancer surrounded by her family.

She was born and raised in Chicago/Elmwood Park, IL and worked at Come Back Inn Pub in Melrose Park, IL for 20 years.  It was there that she would meet the love of her life Dennis. They both retired from the Jewel Distribution Center in Melrose Park and moved to Henderson, Nevada, before eventually making Racine their final home.

She believed in hard work and perseverance, was strong minded and devoted to her family. Chris had a knack for decorating, loved to travel and work in her garden. She had a way of making everything she touched beautiful. She was full of life and loved her family with all her heart. After retirement she followed her passion for animals and worked with several rescue groups and animal activists to protest and create better lives for puppy mill dogs. Chris will be dearly missed.

Chris is survived by her husband, Dennis Long; children, Kimberly (Abrams) and Jarrod Schackmuth, Kathy (Phil) Raby, John (Shannon) Long; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Alex) Aiello, Sean and Caitlyn Raby, Jack, Coleen and John Jr Long, Nikki and Rocky Salazar, Mia and Jake Salazar; and the bright star in her life, great grandson, James Aiello.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 7 from 9:30 am - 11:00 am. Memorial services will immediately follow. Burial will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 12:00 pm.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Aurora Hospice who provided not only excellent care but emotional support that was so needed. But also the many members of the North Pointe United Methodist Church who were always generous with their time and helping out with meals and just being there for support.
