Dana Richard Petersen, son of Gordon and Dorothy (Strobush) Petersen passed away in his mancave on May 21, 2026. He grew up in Lake Park, Racine. He felt a connection to the pounding waves and spent many hours playing in and near it.

He attended Case High School. He preferred working with his hands and left school early to help with his brother's gas station. Roofing was his chosen profession.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, grilling, and hanging with friends. He was a scout leader for troop 303, and a range captain for Bucktrail Archery Club.

When he and Jean married (9/28/1984), they moved into the very home he had once pointed out to his friends as "the house I'm going to live in someday." He loved animals, and over the course of his tenure there, raised chickens, cows, dogs, and cats.

He was the kind of neighbor, friend, and family member who was always willing to lend a hand. Over the years he rescued numerous stranded motorists and assisted with many reroofing jobs. He always welcomed guests to his mancave to share a brew while they cheered on his beloved Packers, Brewers, and Bucks. He used the pig roaster his father-in-law built to supply the main course for many parties. Friday fish fries were mandatory. Though Dana had a rough exterior, he was known for his kind heart and generous spirit. The principles, ethics and ideals he instilled in his boys is the true reflection of his character and a wonderful legacy to leave behind.

While his passing was unexpected, he had been in constant and debilitating pain for several years. Just the day before he passed he noted, "My body just doesn't want to work anymore."

Dana is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rodger; good friends, Johnny B and Doug; and cousin, Dickey.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Chris (Amy), Adam (Brigette), and Rob (Angela); brothers, Tim (Nancy), Terry (Sue); sister, Kris (Tim); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was proud to be "Gunpa" to his grandchildren, Alyssa, Faith, and Grace. His furry friends, Luna, Link, Ash, and Gypsy will miss him, too.

The family will hold a celebration of his life on Saturday, June 13 from 1-5 pm at Parkway Chateau (The Brat Stop), North Entrance C. 12304 75th St. Kenosha, WI 53142
