Daniel R. Hollister, 60, passed away December 5, 2025, at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center after a short and courageous battle with Acute Erythroid Leukemia (AEL). Dan was born on July 31, 1965, to Richard and Dorothy (Scholz) Hollister in Elkhorn, WI. He graduated from Waterford High School Class of 1983. He was a proud Navy Veteran having served from 1991-1994, attending basic training in Orlando, FL and Yeoman school in Meridian, MS. Stationed on Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest, he received the Navy achievement medal for his service. Dan loved fishing when he was not forced to work and had plans to live off the grid, enjoying nature and free time.

Dan is survived by his siblings, Rick and Carol Mattmiller, Pam and Andy Racine, Donna and Jim Harvey, and Doug and Michelynn Hollister; nephews and nieces: Christopher, Rachel, Mike, Lisa, Brad, Samantha, Josh, and Elise; and great-nephews and nieces and Karen Zahn who was like a second mom to him. He had many other relatives and friends left to mourn him.

The family would like to thank the Fourth-Floor staff of the VA Hospital for the magnificent care they gave him; as well as the Fisher House where the out-of-town family was able to stay close by in comfort.

As Dan requested, he will be cremated, and the family will hold private services to honor him.
