Pleasant Prairie - Dawn Michele Strother, age 65, passed away on June 9, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center in Mount Pleasant. She was born on August 4, 1960, in Illinois to parents Paul and Darlene (nee. Morris) Wacker. Dawn graduated from Carmel High School in 1979 and went on to work as a dedicated special education bus driver who brought joy and support to countless children and families throughout her career in school transportation.

Dawn was a one-of-a-kind spirit. She had a passion for horses that showed in her extensive collection of horse figurines. Summers found her casting lines and enjoying the peace of fishing. An avid fan of pop culture, she loved diving into her favorite shows and movies, including Twilight, Supernatural, Star Trek, and Friends, and spent countless hours immersed in World of Warcraft and other online games from the good old days.

Dawn's joyful nature made her a beloved friend and listener. She could always be counted on for her straight talk and support, embodying the traits of a true confidante. Celebratory meals often found her at Bob Chins Crab House, where she indulged in her favorite dishes surrounded by loved ones.

Dawn is survived by her children, Glenn (Mindy) Strother, Jason (Patricia) Strother, Kyle (Danielle) Strother, Dustin (Alexandrea) Strother; grandchildren, Eleanor Wilson and Brayden Strother; sister, Cheryl (Gonzalo) Taino; father of her children, Gayland Strother; and other relatives and friends.

Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Darlene Wacker; siblings, Paul Wacker III and Kelly Wacker.

A visitation will be held at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home on Sunday, June 28 from 12 pm – 2 pm.
