Dennis George Long was called home to our Lord on May 25, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones at 77 years of age. Dennis was born to Eileen and George Long on October 9, 1944, and lived most of his life pre-retirement in the Chicagoland area. After retirement, he moved to Las Vegas for a few years, ultimately settling in Racine, Wisconsin.

Dennis worked for Jewel foods as a driver for over 35 years, retiring early to enjoy life. Dennis was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, and a very active member of his church, North Pointe United Methodist Church, serving in the food pantry and participating in many of their study and support groups, and a member of the VFW in Caledonia, WI. He enjoyed spending time with family, going to church, watching TV, and doing the daily crossword puzzle from the local paper. Dennis was also enjoyed fishing and spending time with friends.

Dennis was a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Dennis is preceded in death by his wife, Christine, and brother, David, and survived by his mother of over 70 years, Alvina Callahan, of Chicago, IL, sister, Janice Long of Palatine, IL, brothers Michael (Mary Alice) Long of Antioch, IL and Michael Callahan of Salem, OH, four children, Kathleen (Philip) Raby of Palatine, IL; John (Shannon) Long of Poplar Grove, IL; Kimberly (Jarrod) Schackmuth of Salem, WI and Dennis Long of Glendale Heights, IL; his ten grandchildren: Sean, Caitlin [children of Kathleen]; Nicollette (Rocky), Johnny, Brianna, Nick, Stephen, Colleen, Jack [children of John]; Elizabeth (Alex) [child of Kimberly] and Madison [child of Dennis]; along with three great grandchildren: Mia, Jake [children of Nicollette] and James [child of Elizabeth]. Dennis is also preceded in death by his former wife, Marsha Long, mother of Kathleen, John and Dennis. Dennis joins his wife, parents and brother in heaven.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Miller Reesman Funeral Home, 620 15th Avenue (Hwy 11), Union Grove, WI, 53182, with a funeral mass beginning at 11:30 a.m. Dennis will be laid to rest at Southern Wisconsin Veteran's Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at TinCAN Roadhouse, 20715 Durand Ave, Union Grove, WI 53182. On behalf of the family, we would like to extend this invitation to join us for lunch as a celebration of Dennis' life and legacy.
