Union Grove – Dennis L. Schweitzer, 68, passed away unexpectedly on February 4, 2017 at his cabin in Florence, WI. He was born March 17, 1948 to Alphonse and Helen (nee Hanke) Schweitzer. Dennie graduated from Union Grove Union High School in 1966. He married Myrtle Murray in 1966 and they had three boys together prior to their divorce twenty years later in 1986. Dennis became reacquainted with his HS classmate, Carol Maurice, through his boys and they have been inseparable for the last thirty years. Dennis worked as a machinist at Caterpillar for a number of years and then worked at Cooper Power Systems for 29 years before retiring. Dennis was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding four-wheelers and motorcycles, scuba diving, golfing, and playing volleyball. He played horseshoes and bowled for the last thirty years. His hobbies included wood working, vegetable gardening, home remodeling, and documenting his family's events with pictures.

Dennis is survived by his beloved, Carol Maurice; his sons, Travis (Pam) Schweitzer, Tregg Schweitzer (Jennifer Miller), and Tracy (Candy) Schweitzer; step-children, David (Katherine) Patterson and Nancy Haigh; grandchildren, Jamie (Selena) Schweitzer, Nicholas Schweitzer, Nathan Schweitzer, Holly Haigh, and Calvin and Ella Patterson; great-grandson, Liam Jenkins; his siblings, Sharon and Gary Knutson, Jerrold (Darlene) Schweitzer, Thomas (Debbie) Schweitzer, and Dean Schweitzer; and his prior wife, Myrtle Lampos.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jacqueline Schweitzer, Keith Schweitzer, and Jamie Schweitzer.

Visitation will be held at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home on Sunday, February 12 from 1 -5 pm. Memorial service will begin at 5 pm. Burial will be on Monday, February 13 at 11 am at Oak Grove Cemetery.
