Whitewater - Donald J. Bones, passed away September 4, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Don was born June 8, 1947 to William and Constance (Oertel) Bones in Fond du Lac, WI. He was a proud Navy Veteran. On October 12, 1968, he married Denise Madore, the love of his life, and they had 3 children. He owned Don's Lock Service and worked at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater as a locksmith. His hobbies included locksmithing, talking on the phone and coffee clutching with friends. Make no bones about it, this key-man had the best one-liners! Don was a kind and caring father who worried even to his last days about the well-being of others over his own.

Don is survived by his children, Debbie, Donald (Heather), and Daryl (Michelle); Grandchildren, Austin (Maya), Adam (Rachelle), Tyler, McKenna, Teegan, Brynlee, Dana, Danielle, Dixie, Blake, Colton, Lillian and Landen; siblings, Patricia Stein, Constance (Jeffrey) Runge, Thomas Bones, and Alice Bones-Weber (Tim) ; sister-in-law, Jackie Flees (Mike); and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Denise Bones; siblings, Susan Rich, Billy Bones and Lyle Bones.

Visitation will be held at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 10:30 am – 12 noon. Memorial service will begin at 12 noon. Burial at Southern Wisconsin Veteran Cemetery will immediately follow at 1 pm.
