Feisty and unmistakably forthright, as well as genuine and loving – this is Dorene Esch.

Dorene Rose Marie Grant Esch was born to her parents, Edwin and Eudora Grant, on September 26,
1941, in Racine, Wisconsin. She graduated from Horlick High School in 1959 and attended Baptist Bible
Seminary in upstate New York from 1961-1962. Upon returning to Racine, she became a receptionist for
Massey Ferguson, an agricultural machinery company. It was there the trajectory of her life changed
when she encountered the love of her life, Jerome (Jerry) Esch. They married on August 21, 1964, and to
this marital union two children were born: Mark Charles Esch and Robin Marie Esch. Their daughter,
Robin, shares Dorene's birth date.

Dorene enjoyed multiple hobbies and interests, and her gift of hospitality was evident. It was not
uncommon to see her in the kitchen, accompanied by her husband, preparing meals for a myriad of
occasions. Additionally, her home revealed her knack for seasonal décor, especially during Christmas
time which, for her, began months in advance of the traditional holiday season. She was an avid reader
and could easily digest a book in one sitting. Additionally, Dorene descended from generations of gifted
musicians, and she was a talented singer and pianist. Finally, her affinity for pets, especially cats, and
including her childhood pet rooster, further underscored her love for all living creatures.

Dorene had an unwavering trust in God since childhood. The seeds of her faith, planted and watered by
her parents and extended family members, continuously increased and sustained her throughout her
life. Her early evangelistic ministry melded her faith in God and her passion for music and singing. During
high school, she sang in a trio that competed in a national Youth for Christ music competition.
Additionally, she possessed an uncanny knowledge of the scriptures and was always receptive to
engaging in deeper conversations. Moreover, her solid, uncompromising faith was evident to all with
whom she came in contact. She was unafraid and unashamed speak her mind and share her
convictions, even if they contradicted status quo.

Dorene leaves an indelible legacy inscribed upon our hearts. She embodied strength, and her firm belief
in the demonstration of honesty, straightforwardness, compassion, forgiveness, and hope, along with
her emphasis on relationships, will forever remain with us. She candidly exhibited concern for others,
and her selflessness and sacrificial love were palpable until she drew her last breath.

Dorene entered eternal life on May 25, 2022 at Ascension St. Francis Hospital, lovingly surrounded by
family and close family friends. She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Esch; her children Mark
(Monica) Esch, Robin Esch and Hugo Fuentes; her grandchildren Justin Gower and Samantha Bauman,
Austin Gower and Paris Wolf, and Megan, Nick, and Lauren Esch. She is also survived by a host of dear
relatives and remarkable friends.

Dorene was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Edwin Grant, and recently followed in
death by her brother Harold Grant.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022, from 4:30pm-6:30pm at Grace Church, 3626 Highway
31, Racine, Wisconsin. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6:30pm
