Heaven gained a vibrant soul on October 4, 2024, as Elaine Judith Read passed away at the age of 83 at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie. Born on May 17, 1941, Elaine, known to friends and family as Judy, was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who worked hard to support her family and owned a commercial cleaning business with her good friend.

Judy's passion for life was palpable in all she did. Whether she was zooming down the open road on a BMW motorcycle alongside her husband Harvey, creating beautiful crafts and quilts, tending to her flourishing flower garden, or enjoying shopping excursions, Judy exuded joy and enthusiasm. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, where she shared a special bond with her sister and best friend.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy of love and laughter her children Virgeen (Skip) Carlson, Phillip (Vicki) Peterson, Connie (Steve) Wagner, Sheri (Joe) Kobriger, Christine (Jerry) Ferrell, Ron (Barbara) Read, and Cyndi (Mark) Miller; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and her sister/ BFF, Barbara Petersen.

Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey Read and her parents, Vern and Dorothy Sharp.

A celebration of Judy's life will be held on Saturday, October 19 from 10 am to 11:30 am at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home, where friends and family will gather to honor her spirit and the impact she made on all who knew her. Judy will be buried with Harvey at English Settlement Cemetery, a place close to her heart.

Though Judy's earthly journey may have come to an end, her contagious laughter and vibrant presence will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. May she rest in eternal peace as she embarks on her next great adventure.
