Mesa, AZ - Elizabeth Anger, age 92, passed away on January 31, 2021 at Baywood Medical Center in Mesa. She was born on March 12, 1928, to parents Frank and Fannie (nee. Birdsbill) Benson on the Ft. Berthold Reservation, North Dakota.

Frank & Fany Birdsbill Benson children:   Christine, Elizabeth Anger, Lois, Eunice Guimont and Frank T. Benson. Other Brother and sister:   Edwin Benson and Viola Benson Wilson children of John Benson.

Frank's first marriage:   Louella Benson Young Bear, Blanche Benson and Phillip Benson

Fany's first marriage:     Martin Theodore Levings and Adele Levings Wells

Today Eunice Benson Guimont is the only surviving sibling.

While growing up, worked with her father doing chores. Hauling firewood, water and fence post with team horses. She loved the outdoors and rode horseback daily. She recalled her Grandpa Ben Benson owning a Trading Post.

She attended grade school at the Charging Eagle day school and high school In Elbowoods. While in high school, the Elbowoods Warriors won the State basketball championship and had It stripped from them. She always was upset about that. She journeyed with her sister Adele to the Seattle, Washington area during WW2. Took various jobs and eventually came back to North Dakota.

She left the reservation in 1948 to work in Dunseith, ND as a nurse's aide at a Sanitorium, eventually. leaving for Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a cousin to seek better work. She found a permanent job with a hospital. She met and married Lee Anger, and had one son, Gary born in 1956. Gary passed in August 2015, having honorably served in the US Airforce and reserves for many years. Gary saw duty in Turkey and other places. He was buried with US military honors in St. Louis, Missouri.

After many years working in Milwaukee, WI she and her second husband, Al Lyngel left for Arizona.

and retired in Mesa. They traveled quite extensively throughout the US and finally settled for good in

Mesa.

Elizabeth was fluent in her tribal tongues of Hidatsa and Mandan. She loved to dance with her shawl.

and regalia at various powwows. She was known by her native name Ahh She Deewah or sheep woman,

probably. She loved to play bingo and her quilting. She read her Bible everyday and prayed for all.

Elizabeth is survived by her dauhgter-in-law, Jordan Anger; many other relatives, family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Lengyel.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. Service at 12noon. Interment will immediately follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Alex who passed in February 2010
