Union Grove - Fay Leona Christiansen Niedermeyer, was born to Alfred and Leona Christiansen on December 26, 1939 in the city of Racine and died November 8, 2017.  She was educated in the Racine School system including Washington Park High School in the class of 1957, graduated Racine Kenosha County Teacher College in 1959, and finished Carthage College in Kenosha, WI in 1966. Fay married Robert Niedermeyer, her high school sweet heart, on August 12, 1961 at Atonement Lutheran Church in Racine, WI. Her first school was a one room school before teaching in Franksville, WI.  She and Robert then started their family in Union Grove, WI.  Family, friends, church, and community were very important to her.  Fay was the first female elected to the village board in Union Grove for two consecutive terms, and taught for many years in the Union Grove school system.  She loved her students and enjoyed being a part of their lives. Fay and Robert traveled all 50 states as well to 14 countries.

Fay leaves behind husband, Robert and two wonderful sons and wife, Todd and Maureen of Franklin and Nedd of DePere, WI.  They have three very special grandchildren, Nolan and Molly of DePere, WI and Anna of Franklin which were the joys of her life.   She leaves one brother Glenn, and his wife, Karen Christiansen of Racine.

Fay wrote, "I leave behind many friends which I greatly enjoyed.  If I have not made you smile today or given you a grin today, I have not done my job.  I have been truly blessed. Please send flowers to a friend or loved one instead of to me."

In Lieu of Flowers, Fay suggested donations be made to Graham Public Library, Union Grove Congregational Church, or Union Grove/ Yorkville Fire and Rescue Department.

Visitation will be held at Union Grove Congregational Church, 11 ^th and Vine Street, on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 2 – 5 pm. Service will begin at 5 pm.
