Hendersen, NV - Franklin Joseph McGovern, Sr., aged 73, passed away February 1, 2016 in Hendersen, NV. He was born October 15, 1942 in Spring Valley, MN. Franklin married Marilyn VanSwol. Franklin was a proud veteran who served in the Marine Corp for four years. He worked at JI Case Corporation for 25 years and was a member of the Case 25-year club. Franklin and Marilyn moved to the Vegas area in 1989 where he worked for International Game Technology for 10 years. He was a member of the Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Hendersen, NV.

Franklin is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Kathryn House, Francine O'Claire, and Donna (Robert) Merriman; son, Charles McGovern; step-children, Joseph (Deven) Sorenson and Sheila (Robert) Leifermen; eight grandchildren; brother, Paul McGovern; and Marilyn's siblings, Geraldine (James) Yates, Conrad (Brenda) VanSwol, Jr., Henry (Joan) VanSwol, Dorothy Ellis (Dennis Poisl), Harold VanSwol, Jean VanSwol, and John (Sharon) VanSwol.

Franklin was preceded in death by his son, Franklin Jr.; his mother, Leona Dennis; step-father, Earl Dennis; sister-in-law, Mary McGovern; brother-in-law, Gerald VanSwol; sister-in-law, Margaret (Jack) Leonard; his grandparents, Florence and Harvey Riehl.

Visitation for Franklin's family and friends will be held at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 4-6pm. A memorial service officiated by Pastor Dave Echelbarger will begin at 6 pm. Burial with full military honors will be at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 11 am.
