Frederick C. Heusdens

September 21, 1924 – August 8, 2022

Burlington—Frederick C. (Fred, Freddy, Papa) Heusdens, age 97, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2022, at Arbor View Assisted Living Facility with family at his side. He was born to John and Diderika Heusdens on September 21, 1924. Raised in Racine, he graduated from Horlick High School. After serving in the Army Air Corps in World War II, he returned to marry his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Holz. They were married on August 16, 1946 and went on to make 70 years of memories together. While living in Racine they had three children and later moved west to Union Grove, then Kansasville and finally, to Burlington. They were life-long members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Racine where Fred proudly sang in the choir and served the congregation in various roles. He was a jack of all trades and would always lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Fred retired from Pugh Oil, where he worked as a truck driver for over 35 years. His life was filled with many memorable activities like airplane and car remodeling with his son, vacationing in Arizona with his daughter and family, and camping excursions to Shawano Lake. He was an avid motorcyclist and water skier and he loved to tinker in the workshop. Through the years he also took great joy in his beloved dogs and in assisting with the birth of puppies. Attending horse shows and stock car races brought a smile to his face.

Fred is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, and daughter, Lynn. He is survived by children Kaye and Mark; son in law Larry; grandchildren Brandon (Autumn), Melissa (Chris), Erin, Fred and Vicki; great-grandchildren Aidan, Tallon, Alyvia, and Connor.

Visitation will be at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home, 620 15th Avenue, Union Grove from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on August 12, with a service at 4:00 p.m
