Genevieve C Scott, age 90 of Conover, WI, was called home by the Lord on September 5, 2019 to join her loving husband of 63 years, Wilson "Scotty" Scott who passed away August 15, 2019.

Genevieve was born June 19, 1929 in Oak Park, IL, the younger child of Alfred & Anna Woodruff. She was raised with her older sister Corinne in Wheaton, IL.  After her junior year at Wheaton High School, the family moved to New Jersey.  Upon graduation from Merchantville High School, she went to work for New Jersey Bell Telephone joining her older sister Corinne.  In her younger years, Gen enjoyed playing the clarinet, Riverview Amusement Park, listening to the sounds of big band music, and traveling with her girlfriends to the west coast.

While a member of the church choir, Gen was introduced to her future husband by his mother, Grace. They married March 10, 1956 at the First Methodist Church in Haddon Heights, NJ. Gen and Scotty moved back to Barrington/Inverness, Illinois where they raised their two sons, David and John.  She was always there rooting them on at their athletic events.  Gen worked for Atlantic Richfield Oil Company and as an Administrative Assistant for Palatine School District 15 before retiring and moving to Conover, WI in 1988.

Gen truly loved her home and the peacefulness of the North Woods. She enjoyed feeding the birds, deer and occasional black bear that would roam the property.  She loved reading her books, knitting, her afternoon soap operas, playing the organ, making Christmas cookies and beautiful handmade ornaments, playing cards and hiking Bond Falls with her grandchildren.  She was a big Chicago sports fan and was excited to see the Cubs win the World Series! Gen enjoyed staying in touch with school, work and travel friends over the years and always looked forward to hearing from them by letter or phone. Gen loved to walk daily down Church Road and Old 26 and was often referred to as the "walking lady of Church Road".  She and Scotty enjoyed day travels around northern WI and the U.P.  and heading south for a number of winters to Myrtle Beach.  Gen loved her country and was proud to be a Veteran wife.

Gen will be remembered for her love of her family and extended family. She is survived by her sons David (Jean) of Smyrna, GA, John (Carrie) of Inverness, IL; grandchildren Allison, Karin (Andrew), Steven, Robert (Michael), Nichole, Eric and Jenna; and great granddaughter Sloane; sister-in-law Carol Ann Scott; nephews Raymond & James Merkh; and niece Holly Focht.

A joint memorial service for Scotty and Gen will be held on September 21, 2019 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home Chapel – Union Grove, WI, officiated by Pastor Scott Carson. The chapel is located between Boland and Gates Halls. Together, they will be laid to rest at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
