Milwaukee – George D. Blaha, age 88, passed away peacefully at Oak Ridge Care Center on June 27, 2020. He was born on January 16, 1932 in Algoma, Wisconsin to parents George and Erdina (nee. Hasenjager) and was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Algoma on February 7, 1932. Growing up, George attended elementary school in Dodge County – Class of 1947 and graduated from Oconomowoc High School – Class of 1951.

He proudly served in the United States Army as an E-5 Sergeant. George was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado with the 8th Infantry, Division Band. For his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. On January 25, 1955, George was released from active military service and on January 31, 1961, he was Honorably Discharged.

Following his military service, George married Cecelia M. Reinerio on December 21, 1968 and were married for 20 years, before her passing on April 12, 1989. He owned and operated Badger Distributing Company, which sold industrial chemicals, for many years.

He is survived by his son, Gregory (Joy) Blaha; grandchildren, Timothy (Stefanie) Blaha, Daniel Blaha (Donald Smith), and Carrie (Craig) Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Ella and Ethan Blaha and Isaac Wyatt; stepdaughter, Maria Filippi. Also survived by Sister-in-laws Trilbe Blaha, Rosemary Blaha; Nieces and Nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cecelia; siblings, Edward Blaha, Robert Blaha and Jean Ney.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 13, 2020 from 9:00am–10:30am. Funeral services and full military honors will immediately follow at 10:30am. Private family burial will take place at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Milwaukee.
