George Wallace Smith Jr., age 79, passed away on January 28, 2026, at his residence in Sturtevant, WI. He was born on September 17, 1946, in Jacksonville, FL to parents George Sr. and Betty (nee. Damman) Smith. George graduated from Racine Horlick High School in 1964. He was a Vietnam veteran, proudly serving in the US Navy. George was a police officer in Caledonia and ended his career as a sergeant for the VA Police Department.

George found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished time spent fishing and pheasant hunting with his late father. George enjoyed tending to his garden, especially growing tomatoes and giving them to friends and family. He was a fan of bulldogs. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, who brought love and laughter to his life.

Deeply rooted in his faith, George loved the Lord, and his positive spirit was often described as a ray of sunshine to all those who knew him. His laughter and storytelling will be dearly missed by friends and family alike.

George is survived by his children, Ryan Smith and Kelly Smith; grandchildren, Ashley Craddock, Mya Boldus, and Kylee Smith; great granddaughter, Milani Boldus; sisters, Linda (Robert) Weber, Virginia (Christopher) Smith-Hooser; nephews, Nick Binetti, Matthew Binetti, Richard Delao; and many other relatives and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Betty Smith, and his special friend, Lois Schubert.

A visitation will take place at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home on February 5, 2026, from 10:30am – 12pm with a service to begin at noon. Burial and full military honors will immediately follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
