Paris - Georgia "Penny" L. Myers, 72, passed away on November 28, 2017 at Froedtert Hospital. She was born August 5, 1945 to parents George and Mary (nee. Cavender) Fry in Waukegan, IL. Penny attended Woodland Elementary School and graduated from Warren Township High School in Gurnee, Illinois as a member of the Class of 1963. Penny married Marvin Myers on August 22, 1964 and, despite divorcing in 1992, they remained close, loving partners and parents to their two daughters and their grandson.

Penny attended Racine-Kenosha Teachers College in Union Grove and graduated in 1965. After graduation, she enjoyed working as a substitute teacher for many local elementary schools.  Penny was also a Sunday school teacher at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Union Grove.

She took a break from her teaching career to stay home to raise her children. This gave her the opportunity to actively participate in many organizations. Penny was active in her church and attended many Missouri Lutheran Synod Women's Guild meetings and events. She was also extremely involved in the Kenosha County 4-H program as the General Leader of the Paris Happy Workers 4-H club along with being the Swine Project Leader with her husband Marvin. In addition, she was also a member of the Kenosha County 4-H Livestock Committee. Lastly, Penny was the President of the Paris Grade School PTA and a member of the Paris School Board.

As her children become older, she went back to working outside of the home. Her first job was working for Home Interiors as a Displayer. She then became the Portrait Studio Manager for Sears. After that, she was hired by ITO Industries and worked in both the accounting and sales departments. For the past twenty five years she worked for Target Corporation, a military defense contractor, in the capacity of Marketing Manager and then Vice President of the company until the company was sold in late 2016. She most recently was employed by Aimtron Systems in Sales and Marketing.

As a child, Penny grew up in Lake County, Illinois and was a member of the local 4-H club. She enjoyed showing goats and dairy cattle at Lake County Fair. For the past twenty years, she looked forward to taking a trip each spring with hopes of purchasing a prize winning pig. She loved to both attend and enter her pig each year at various fairs, particularly the Wisconsin and Minnesota State Fairs. Those two things brought her the biggest joy. Penny would exhibit many pigs over the years and last year, her pig was part of the Grand Champion Pen of Three at the Minnesota State Fair Open Barrow Show. As a special treat at the end of each day, she would enjoy giving her pigs Oreo cookies.

For her 70 ^th birthday, she took a special trip with her family to the Black Hills in South Dakota. Penny loved bowling, going to casinos, and traveling whenever possible. In addition, she had an extreme knack for picking the right slot machines at casinos – "slot machines feared her". And as a true Wisconsinite - she loved the Packers!

Penny is survived by her daughters, Janet (Jeff) Gumm and Donna Nickel (Russ Kirschbaum); her grandson, Kyle Nickel; niece, Jennifer (Robert) Kunz; great nephew, Jonathon (Amanda) LaPrairie; great niece, Nikki (John) Ellis; great-great niece, Charlotte Elizabeth Ellis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; an infant twin sister, Mary Sydney Fry; sister, Betty (Larry) Scheck; and nephew, Mark McCort.

Penny's family would like to make special mention of the caring staff at the ICU Unit, 6 ^th Floor, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. They exhibited both a professional and personal level of compassion and care for Penny during her extended time stay with them. Their sincere compassion and care was very special – something both she and all of her family truly cherished.

Visitation will be held at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 5-7 pm and Thursday, December 7, 2017, from 10 – 11 am. Memorial service will begin at 11 am. Burial will immediately follow.
