Sturtevant – Gerhardt H. Schattner, 84, passed away February 19, 2018 at his home. He was born April 15, 1933 in Ives Grove, WI. Gerhardt married Helen Stublaski on October 9, 1954 and together they raised six children in addition to fostering many children in their home. Gerhardt worked as a dairy farmer with his father until 1967. He then worked for Marigold Dairy. He also worked for Jensen Block cement company and later Runge Gas which then became Amerigas. He retired from Franksville Oil. Gerhardt was a member of the Racine County Agricultural Society for 27 years where he was sheep superintendant for many years, but mostly he enjoyed working the tractor pull.  He remained an Honorary member to present day.

Gerhardt is survived by his loving wife, Helen; children, Rose Szaradowski, Faye (John) Hanley, Gary (Pam) Schattner, Penni (D. Brendan) Kite, Sandi (E. Charles) Jiongco, and Aimee Schattner; 12 living grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and siblings-in-law, Carl Daniels, Veronica and Ernie Tryba, Dawn Stublaski, Karen Stublaski, and Leroy and Jeanne Stublaski.

Gerhardt was preceded in death by his grandson, Erik Jiongco; parents, Ervin and Irene (Henkel) Schattner; sister, Shirley Daniels; parents-in-law, Thomas and Nathalie (Arnold) Stublaski; and siblings-in-law, Charles and Beverly Stublaski, Edward Stublaski, Angeline and Pete Long, Thomas Stublaski, Clement Stublaski, and Paul and Judy Stublaski.

Visitation will be held at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 4 – 7:30 pm and again Saturday, February 24 from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm. Funeral services on Saturday officiated by Fr. Robert Kacalo will begin at 12 noon. Burial at West Lawn Memorial Cemetery will immediately follow.
