Muskego- Gizella Herczeg, 85, passed away December 25, 2022 surrounded by her family's love after a very short battle with cancer. She was born October 28, 1937 in Budapest, Hungary. Gizella married Imre Herczeg in Vienna in 1975. Shortly after their marriage, she was able to join Imre in America. They began their life together in Cudahy, WI and raised their daughter there. Gizella became an American Citizen in 1981. Gizella and Imre owned and operated Emery's Bar in Cudahy where Gizella did all the cooking. Later, Gizella was a housekeeper and made very close relationships with many of her clients. Her Catholic Faith fueled her spirit and guided all her interactions with others. She enjoyed spending time outside gardening and watching and feeding her hummingbirds. Animals were drawn to Gizella and she loved them. Her grandchildren were her whole world and she loved being involved in every aspect of their lives. After Imre passed away, she really developed a passion for traveling and went all over Europe and many other parts of the world with her friends. She had many close friendships that she cherished. Throughout the years, Gizella never forgot her Hungarian Roots and made sure to pass on the culture to her daughter and grandchildren. She remained very close to her family in Hungary and often took her daughter to visit them.

Gizella is survived by her daughter, Tunde (Ben) Lushine; her grandchildren, Ethan and Emma; niece and nephews, Csilla, Lacika, and Romeo; and her sister, Babika and her husband Laci and grandniece, Janka.

Gizella was preceded in death by her husband, Imre; her parents, Julianna and Zsigmond Papay; and her sisters, Julika and Lenke.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at St. Leonard Church in Muskego on Friday, January 6, 2022 from 12 noon – 1:45 pm. Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Fr. Dan will begin at 2 pm. Inurnment will be at West Lawn Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, January 7 at 11 am.
