Gordon James Boyce, a devoted pastor and hospice chaplain, walked into the arms of Jesus on October 31, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born on September 11, 1947, in Elmvale, Ontario, Canada, Gordon was the oldest of five boys. The boys were raised by a loving mother who modeled trusting her Heavenly Father for everything. After he gave his life to Jesus at a young age, he could often be found in his room praying and studying the Bible, while also encouraging his brothers and friends spiritually. Gordon attended Toccoa Falls College in Georgia where he met his wife, Joy. The two were married July 18, 1970, and after seminary, the two entered into a life of ministry. They began their ministry at a church in Ontario, Canada, then moved to pastor a congregation in Chapmanville, PA. Finally, he transitioned to the role of a hospice chaplain at Gentiva Hospice.

A man of unwavering faith, Gordon dedicated his life to spreading love, hope, and compassion through his ministry. His profound spiritual guidance and empathetic nature offered comfort and strength to those in need. Gordon leaves behind a cherished legacy and will be fondly remembered by his adoring family.

He is survived by his beloved daughters, Angela (Jeff) Saunders, Kelly (Matt) Boyd, and Julie (Dominic) Hollister; his grandchildren Erica, Emily, and Ethan Saunders, Alexa and Olivia Boyd, Madelyn, Nicholas, and Haddie Hollister; his four brothers Larry (Winna) Boyce, David (Kathi) Boyce, Doug Boyce, Ron (Bonnie) Boyce; and many nieces and nephews.

As a devoted father and grandfather, Gordon took great pride in raising strong, compassionate individuals who continue to encourage others with the love of Jesus.

Gordon is preceded in death by his wife Joy, mother Martha Jean, nephew Shane, and niece Farah.

To remember Gordon's life, a funeral service will be conducted at the Union Grove Baptist Church on November 9, 2023, at 12:30. Prior to the service, family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the public viewing, held at the church at 11:00 am. A graveside service will be held at Union Grove Memorial Cemetery following the service.

The family would like to offer their gratitude to the staff at Home Harbor, Pleasant Point, and Aurora Medical Center for their care for Gordon.
