Kansasville- Herbert "Herb" J. Kohlman, 66, passed away September 6, 2017 at his home. He was born January 20, 1951 to Earl and Erna (nee Reesman) Kohlman in Racine, Wisconsin. He graduated from Union Grove Union High School in 1969. Herb worked for In-Sink-Erator and retired after 39 years. Herb married the former Janet Vanderwerff on June 26, 1982.

Over the years, Herb enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities, among them were hunting, fishing, bowhunting, snowmobiling, hot air ballooning and most recently motorcycle riding and spending time outdoors in nature.

Herb is survived by his beloved wife, Jan; his children, Angela Sterling and Joel (Jena) Kohlman; his grandchildren, Kylie, Kasey, and Drew; his siblings, Jane (Bill) Gross, Rita (Paul) Miller, Julie (Merle) Phillips, and sister-in-law, Darlene Kohlman; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves some special friends that need to be thanked for their compassion, caring, and loving help that they provided when he needed it most: his best friends (adopted brother and little sister of his heart) Don and Sue Gourdoux
and longtime friend Sue Matuszek who was always willing to listen & make him laugh.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jim Kohlman, and his good friends, Ken Kempen and Ron Madsen.

Visitation will be held at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home in Union Grove on Tuesday, September 12 from 4 – 7:30 pm. Memorial service will begin at 7:30 pm.

Jan would like to extend a special thank you to her co-workers at WFHC Ascension for covering for her absence so she could be with Herb. The family would also like to thank Dr. Mullane and staff and Cathy Pippen, RN from Hospice Alliance for their superb care.
