Baraboo - Jay Walter Totsky, age 74, passed away on October 1, 2025. Born on April 4, 1951, in Wisconsin to Walter and Pearl (nee: Pflughoeft) Totsky. Jay lived a life rich in adventure, passion, and love. He was a dedicated servant to his country, bravely serving as a medevac gunner in Vietnam, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a profound appreciation for life's precious moments.

Jay was an individual of diverse passions, with a particular fondness for fishing, planes, and trains. He held a pilot's license and delighted in the freedom that flying provided, whether in planes or helicopters. His love for aviation was complemented by a successful career at Badger Meter, where he excelled as an assembly foreman, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Jay is survived by his devoted spouse, Jo Totsky, and his beloved children: Kurt Totsky, Bryon Totsky, Michelle (Jamie) Shaw, Gloria Henry, April (Jerry) Powers Jr., and Crystal Erickson. He took great joy in his role as a grandfather to Bella, Jayden, Raeanne, Grace, Liam, Logan, Gwen, Jerry (Alissa), Destany, Sheila, Gryphon, and Gavyn, as well as a great-grandfather to Ryver, Lyon, and Draconus. He is also survived by his sister, Darlene.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Pearl Totsky, his first wife Carole Totsky, his brother Scott (Irene) Totsky, and his brother-in-law Bernie.

Jay's life was a testament to the virtues of courage, family, and dedication. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be held at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home on Thursday, October 16 from 11 am - 1 pm, with services beginning at 1 pm. Burial at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery will immediately follow.
