Sturtevant- Allen James Aita "Jim", 84, passed away December 12, 2018 at Ridgewood Care Center. He was born December 22, 1933 to Fabian and Ruth (nee Andresen) Aita in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Jim was a proud Army Veteran.  Jim married Laurel Polar on July 11, 1970.  They were married for 48 years.  He retired after 27 years as a maintenance mechanic for Western Electric Company.  Jim was a master craftsman, a collector and historian of antique telephones, and he also enjoyed working on his 1932 Plymouth.

Jim is survived by his wife, Laurel; his children, Michael Aita of Tennessee, Andrew Aita of Illinois, Beth (Michael) Raduenzel of Illinois, Kelly (Julia) Aita of Kenosha; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Alice Newton and Joyce Voight.

Jim was preceded in death by his sons, Mark Aita and Thomas Aita, and his parents.

Visitation at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home will be held on December 22, 2018 from 10-11 am. Memorial service will begin at 11 am.  Burial at Yorkville Cemetery with full military honors will immediately follow.
