Union Grove – John Franklyn Demant, age 72, passed away on October 14, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center in Burlington. He was born on October 29, 1952, to parents Roy and Loretta (nee. Dellis) Demant. John graduated from Union Grove High School in 1971 and went on to proudly serve in the US National Guard. On August 28, 1974, he married his soulmate, Linda Busch, and together they raised four daughters.

A true jack of all trades, John could fix anything - a true MacGyver. He retired as a maintenance mechanic for Ellsworth Prison. He enjoyed grilling and had a genuine love for the outdoors, particularly hunting and golfing. He was a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers—a testament to his Wisconsin roots. John enjoyed going on long rides on country roads and pointing out the pole barns he helped build as co-owner of J & E Construction in his younger years. He loved listening to the Oldies and watching reruns on MeTV. His good sense of humor and warm personality endeared him to many, making friends in all walks of life.

Above all, John cherished spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

John is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Jennifer (Tim) Williams, Jody (Chris) Vollmer, Katie Demant, Cheri (Damion) Oviedo; grandchildren, Oscar Williams, Cody Vollmer, Aiden Vollmer, Addison Dunkerson, Alyssa Dunkerson, Mayson Oviedo, Morgan Oviedo; father, Roy Demant; siblings, Lee (Patty) Demant, Dan Demant, Jay Demant, Judy (Mike) LaFrania; mother in law, Shirley Busch; siblings in law, Sandy (Pete) Patino, Gary Busch, Gloria Greil, Peggy (Joe) Cannon, Karen LaLonde; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

John was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Jean Demant; mother, Lorretta Demant; brothers, Larry Demant and Jerry Demant; and father-in-law, Irvin Busch.

Visitation will take place at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on October 20 from 10am-12pm with a funeral service beginning at noon. Burial will take place at Union Grove Memorial Cemetery following services at 1pm. A luncheon will take place at St. Paul's Lutheran following the burial.
