John F. Lauber, age 70, passed away at his residence in Sturtevant on February 11, 2022. He was born on November 14, 1951, to parents John and Lillian (nee. Nelson) Lauber in Waukesha, WI.

John grew up in Pewaukee and Wales Wisconsin. He was a 1969 graduate Kettle Moraine High School in Wales. After graduating High School, he attended the University of Wisconsin – Waukesha and University of Wisconsin – Whitewater until he was drafted into the US Army in 1972. He proudly served for approximately 16 years in the United States Army and was stationed at various postings, including Fort Stewart, Georgia; Fort Jackson, South Carolina; and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri as well as multiple locations in Germany. In addition to working in various military food service positions, including running dining halls and deployed operations, John was also a recruiter for the Army in Billings, Montana.

Being stationed in Europe gave John the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe, this included many joint maneuvers with other NATO armies. He also used his time in Europe to travel as much as possible including seeing the Chicago Bears play the Dallas Cowboys in London, and visiting Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Monaco, Liechtenstein, and San Marino. John left the US Army in 1988 at the rank of E-7, Sergeant First Class and moved back to Wisconsin. Following his military service, he worked for Warren Industries in Racine and at the former American TV and Appliance store warehouse in Oak Creek.

John is survived by his brothers, Ron (Rachel) of Muskego; Bill of Wausau; Gary (Alice) of Waukesha; and Steven of Union Grove. He was preceded in death by his sister Lori of Waukesha and by his father John and mother Lillian. He is further survived by nieces and nephews, Craig, Sarah, Katie, John, Emily and Megan.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022, at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation in John's name to your favorite cat rescue charity in memory of John and his longtime feline pets Lucky and Sparkle. John dearly loved his cats and gave them several cat climbing towers. John always gave updates on their antics.
