Burlington-John Thomas Stefan, a beloved husband of sixty years, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, father-in-law, and uncle passed away at home on August 28, 2016.

John was born February 15, 1934 to Joseph Stefan and Annie Yuraschick. He entered into the Air Force at the age of 17. While stationed in England, he met Ellen Pett (of Dublin, Ireland) and they married on March 24, 1956. John served his country for 30 years winning numerous medals including the Bronze Star. Most of all he was an amazing husband to his wife, Ellen, a proud grandfather, great-grandfather, and we couldn't have asked for a more loving man to be our father.

We know in our hearts we will see him again. Until then we will miss him every day and know that God welcomed him home with open arms.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen; children, John (Michelle) Stefan, Eileen (Glenn) Bishop, Diann (Johnny) Cain; grandchildren, Jessica (Brandan), Nicholas (Katie), Patrick, Joseph, Rachel, John, Michael; great-grandchildren, Hadley, Noah, Emily; a brother, George; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

John was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Fr. Jim Volkert will be held there on Friday, September 2 at 10:30 am. Burial at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery will immediately follow at 12 noon.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society are requested in lieu of flowers.
