Burlington – Joseph Anthony Popp, age 86, passed away at his residence on June 26, 2016. He was born on April 18, 1930 in Waterford, WI to parents Julian and Mary (nee. Kosarog) Popp. Joseph graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in Burlington. While in high school, he enjoyed boxing, and he also helped out on the family farm. On December 26, 1989, he married Sandra Krebs.

Joseph served in the Army during the Korean War. This past April, he took the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Joseph spent his entire life living and working in Burlington and Waterford. He was a lifelong carpenter and was part owner of Jens-Popp Construction in Franklin, and Poppers Bar in Hales Corners. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed flying his own plane, woodworking and gardening.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; his children, Marty Popp of Manitowoc, Peggy Wiesend (Tom Carlsen) of Waterford, Patti Schlaefer of Montello, Janice (Jerry) Aldrich of Burlington, and Julie (Jeff) Ross of Green Bay; siblings, Julianna (Alvin) Moede of New Berlin, Mary Ignatowski of Pittsville, Jeanette Radtke of Greenfield, Rosemary Warner of Burlington, Margaret (Donald) Dezek of Kenosha, Florence (Edward) Chaulkin of Merrillan, Anne Antich of Darien, IL, Agnes (Leo) Brenton of Burlington, Anthony (Patricia) Popp of Union Grove, Rita Feirn of Janesville, and Theresa (Eugene) Lancour of Burlington; 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; stepson Jason (Melissa) Laux of Necedah; and his in-laws, Debbie (Dale) Gasser of Waukesha, April Krebs of Appleton, Mary Krebs of Minnesota, Wayne Krebs of Texas, Penny (Harry) Cramer of Hartland, and Susan (Wayne) Brunner of Waterford.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Popp, and brother-in-law, James Krebs.

Visitation for Joseph's family and friends will be held on July 5, 2016 at the funeral home from 12:00-2:00. Memorial services will begin at 2:00, officiated by Fr. Jim Volkert. Inurnment with full military honors will immediately follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
