Racine – LaVern A. Gibbs, age 86, passed away at his residence on January 18, 2024. He was born on August 7, 1937, to parents Reid and Lila (nee. Brown) Gibbs. Vern was an avid deer hunter and member of the Winchester Gun Club. He was a proud Army Veteran and owned and operated Trap – Skeet and Target in Omaha, NE. Vern loved dogs and trained golden retrievers for the blind and deaf.

Vern is survived by his children, Mark (Pam) Gibbs, Linda Gibbs, Mary Gibbs, Susie (Tim) Westlake and Lisa Broadway; grandchildren, Aaron, Amanda, Chelsea, Terri, Joey, Jacob, Katrina, Jessica, Adam, Tommy, Kristina, Elizabeth, Marshall, and Joshua; many great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; son in law, Paul Unsworth; his beloved dog, Bear; and many other relatives and friends.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott Gibbs; daughter, Heather Unsworth; great grandson, Kendall; his five siblings; and son in law, Thomas McCray.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on February 9th from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm with a funeral service to begin at noon. Inurnment and full military honors at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations in Vern's honor that will be forwarded to Veterans programs.
