Marilyn Krause (nee Hammes), 83, of Union Grove, passed away on February 16 at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born December 19, 1934, in Dunlap, Iowa to Frank and Jessie Hammes. Marilyn was a resident of Union Grove since 1936.

Marilyn and her husband, Gilbert Krause (Gib), married in 1951. They owned and operated Chickville Farm 1957-1976 and Trevor Feed Company 1968 – 1993.

Marilyn was an active member of the Union Grove United Methodist Church for over 70 years, serving both as an educator for over 50 years and as member of the Bright and Beautiful Child Center Board since 1997. Within the Union Grove community she served many roles including being a driver for Meals on Wheels for over 20 years, volunteering her time to help children and adults learn to read, and organizing the annual Turkey Dinner every October at UG UMC.

Marilyn is survived by her children: Marta (Gary Meade) of Colorado, Jane (Dan Zierke) of Stevens Point, Steve of Franklin, Larry of Nevada; grandchildren: Piper Meade, Elizabeth Zierke Puhl (Adam Puhl), Pam Zierke, Mark Zierke (Lauren Mack); and great grandsons: Alexander and Zachary Puhl. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Gib; her parents; her sister Betty H. Clarkson; her brother in law, James Clarkson; her niece Susan Conrad; and her great nephew Matthew Clarkson.

Services will be planned at Union Grove Methodist Church on Saturday March 24 ^th with visitation at 9:30 am, and service at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow.
