Martin (Marty) Robert Hummel, 91, passed away on January 28, 2026. He was born on December 21, 1934, to John and Eva (Stojan) Hummel in Daggett, MI. He was the 5th oldest of 15 children. Marty was a proud Army veteran who was honorably discharged February 6, 1958. Marty married Sheila Marie Olson on April 18, 1964, at Evanger

Lutheran Church in Independence, WI and together they raised two children during their 61-year marriage. He and Sheila were members of the North Cape Lutheran Church for many years.

Marty was the proud manager of Sunny Oak Farm, where he oversaw operations such as crop production, livestock management, and equipment maintenance. Later in life, he delivered parts for NAPA Auto Parts in Union Grove, WI. He enjoyed volunteering at sports events for his grandchildren, particularly umpiring his grandsons' baseball games. A lover of bowling, he was not only on a men's league, but also on a couples' league with Sheila. While the couple enjoyed being a part of card clubs together, Marty always made time for the coffee club with the guys. A charismatic friend, Marty knew someone in every room he entered and never met a stranger who didn't end up a friend... Those closest to him, family and friends alike, knew his affection by the personal nicknames he gave them.

Marty is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila; daughter Faye (Scott) Smith; son, Todd

(Lisa) Hummel; grandsons, Dylan (Morgan) Smith, Justin (Steph) Smith; granddaughter, Hope (Brady) Greenberg; great-grandchildren Josie, Barrett and Sadie Smith. He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Hanson and Ruth (Larry Engels); and brothers, Charles (Sharon) Hummel and Robert (Sharon) Hummel; and many nieces and nephews.

The family of Marty wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Kayla Kitchmaster (Executive Director), Felecia Mable (Assistant Executive Director), Jennifer Rice (LPN) and their dedicated, caring staff at Killarney Kourt (A Capri Community) who provided comfort, kindness, support, and compassionate care during Marty's final days. Also, a special thank you to St. Croix Hospice services for their compassion and support.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home on Friday,

February 20 from 4-6 pm and again Saturday, February 21 at North Cape Lutheran Church from 11 am - 12 noon. Memorial service will begin at 12 noon. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow at the North Cape Lutheran Church Cemetery.
