Union Grove – Mary E. (nee. Barker) Moyle, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2016, at Oak Ridge Care Center.

She was born on April 2, 1928 in Floris, Iowa to parents Harley and Winona (nee. Strickland) Barker. On Christmas Eve 1948, she married Herbert Moyle in Ottumwa, Iowa, who preceded her in death on November 17, 1997. Following their marriage, they moved to the Moyle Farm in Yorkville. In 1963, they bought a house in Union Grove on Main Street. Mary worked at the Union Grove High School for 42 years as a cook, but she was also a homemaker, and taking care of her family.

When Mary wasn't working, she loved gardening, cooking, sewing, and crocheting. She loved music and playing the organ. Mary collected newspaper articles and ceramic birds. She was also a member of the Union Grove Harvest Club. She loved people and was very social. Mary loved cats, especially her favorite cat, Pumpkin.

Mary is survived by her children, Mitchel (Jo Ann) Moyle and Mona (Albert) Payne; grandchildren and their children, Lahnie (Kevin) Neu, their children, Lahn, Autumn, Isabella and Matthew (Stacy) Moyle, their children Tessa, Emma, Mattilyn, Olivia, Ava; step-grandchildren, Albert Jr. and Shelena Payne; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herb, and a brother, Benjamin.

Visitation for Mary's family and friends, will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 4-7 pm and 10-11 am the next morning. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, officiated by Pastor Sue Kagnas. Burial will immediately follow at the Union Grove Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are suggested.
