Union Grove - Mary Elizabeth Stevens (nee Dorr), 75, went into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 9, 2026. She was born on September 24, 1951, to Norman and Josephine (nee Rimitz) Dorr in New York. After graduating from Cortland High School in Cortland, NY she went on to Binghampton General Nursing School to become a Registered Nurse. She later attended Practical Bible Training School. In her work as an RN, she cared for people in hospitals, nursing homes, and the Department of Corrections. Mary was married to Gary Stevens for 51 years from August 2, 1975, and together they had 5 children. Mary was a selfless person and chose to put her family before her career when she decided to stay home and care for her children. She quietly lived her faith and God shown through her in her many services to others. Her big heart created warmth and caring in her household that kept her children feeling safe and loved. Her church life was very important to her and always a priority.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband, Gary; children Anna, Rebecca “Becky”, Matthew (Stephanie) and Benjamin; grandchildren, Crosby and Hendrix; siblings, Lois (Mike) Nagy, John (Kathryn) Dorr, siblings-in-law, James Stevens and Betty Wells; nieces and nephews, Michael, Heather, Jonathan D., Andrew D., Timothy, Michelle, Jonathan S., and Andrew S.
Mary was preceded in death by her son, Samuel Oliver Stevens; her niece, Melinda; and her parents.
Visitation for family and friends to gather to celebrate Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, October 24 from 3 – 4 pm at Racine Bible Church with services immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Racine Bible Church in Mary's name.
