Mary Charlene Weil passed away peacefully on November 28th at the Union Grove Veteran's Home where she had lived for the past 4 years. Born In New York to Charles M and Arlene A. Weil, Mary grew up on Long Island with her sister Kathleen and brothers Paul and Eddie.  After graduation from New Hyde Park Memorial, Mary enlisted in the Army. She completed her basic training at Fort   Benning, Georgia and then her medic training at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.  Mary was then stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco, working on the amputee ward- not an easy assignment but she excelled at it, winning over the toughest cases.

After eight years, Mary returned to civilian life, working for Fisher Scientific. When the company relocated to Twin Lakes, Mary did too and found her home. Mary became very active in the American Legion Post 544. In time, she would ascend to the rank of Post Commander, the only woman to hold that position. Mary also rose to be a Kenosha County Commander. Mary loved being in the Army and continuing that service with the Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.

Always a lover of country music, she was a faithful attendee of Country Thunder for many years. Mary loved all sports but no one more then her beloved Chicago Bears.  A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 26th at 2pm at the Twin Lakes American Legion Hall, Post 544.

Graveside services will take place on Monday, April 27th at 11am at Union Grove Veterans Cemetery.
