Union Grove - Maxine Carol Brown, age 79, passed away at her home on April 8, 2026. Born to parents John and Hazel (nee: Gilbert) Engstrom on June 27, 1946, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Max married the love of her life, Robert Brown II, on April 7, 1979. They took pride in their combined family with three wonderful children: Steve, Robert, and Kimberly. Family meant everything to Max, and she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren.

A woman of many passions, Maxine loved being outside, whether she was gardening or enjoying the company of the birds that frequented her yard. She was also an active member of the North Cape Lutheran Church, which held a special place in her heart. Maxine was a die-hard fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers, always cheering on her teams!

Max is survived by her husband Robert; children Steve (Bertie) Gunter, Robert (Claudia) Brown III, and Kimberly (Brandon) Mills; grandchildren April Gunter, Jeff Gunter, Kyndall Brown, Kylie Stilwell, and Grace Stilwell; great-grandchildren Jaelynn, Michael, Malia, and Layla; and 17 special great-grandchildren; siblings Paul, Kathy, Jan, Dave and Mary.

She preceded in death by her grandchild Rochelle Gunter, her parents John and Hazel; and brother John Engstrom.

Maxine made a lasting impact on all who knew her, and though she may be gone, her spirit and love will continue to shine in the hearts of her family and friends.

A visitation will be held at North Cape Lutheran on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with a service starting at 12 noon to celebrate her life and legacy. A private burial at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery will take place at a later date.
