Melissa Mae Miller, 45, of Sterling, Virginia, passed away on June 1, 2026 after an inspiringly courageous 5-year battle with breast cancer. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Melissa's testimony of Jesus Christ was reflected in the way she cared for those around her.

Born and raised in Wisconsin, she graduated from Greendale High School and went on to study interior design and marketing at Utah State University. Melissa had an eye for beautiful things: home design, fashion, floral arranging, travel. She was often the person friends turned to when planning weddings, decorating a home, talking about their love lives, or making other life decisions. She approached those moments not just with talent but threw her whole self into every project with love, passion, and determination. Melissa could fix anything and make it better. She could often be found with cups of her favorite beverages with crunchy ice, watching Survivor, listening to romance audiobooks, going on walks, working on house projects, playing games with her kids, indulging in her favorite desserts, finding deals on Facebook marketplace, and hanging out at the pool or the beach.

In addition to creating beautiful physical spaces, Melissa had a gift for building up people that surrounded her. She remembered the small details, checked in when it mattered most, and offered support without needing recognition, and helped others feel seen and valued. A devoted friend who was steady, thoughtful, deeply loyal, and would do anything and everything for her friends.

Her greatest devotion was to her family. Her husband Aaron fell in love with Melissa the moment he met her and they were married for eternity in August of 2007 in Nauvoo, Illinois. Melissa and Aaron settled their family in Sterling, Virginia, and together they created a home grounded in love, faith, and fun. Loving, guiding and helping her children grow, learn and feel loved was her greatest priority and joy. Melissa was deeply loved by her husband and children. She made their whole world spin and they will miss her beyond measure.

She loved her sisters, parents, extended family and friends with all her heart and soul.

Melissa is survived by her husband, Aaron; her children, William, Hugh, and Elizabeth; her parents, Russell and Cindy Wilson; her sisters: Michelle Holladay, Miriam Titensor, Manda Jumper, and Marcia Milne. She is also survived and remembered by her brothers-in-law, beloved nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Maralee Boston.

While Melissa's passing leaves a gaping absence, we know that through our savior Jesus Christ and gospel ordinances that we will all be resurrected and reunited again as part of Heavenly Father's plan. Melissa's life was an example of Christlike love, including the way she faced adversity and suffering. Her impact on all our lives is embedded deeply on our souls and she will remain alive in our hearts, memories and shared stories.

All funeral services will be held at the Sterling Park LDS Church building located at 22066 Circle Drive, Sterling, Virginia. Viewings will be held on Friday, June 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday, June 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. on June 13th, followed by a repast celebration of life luncheon. All are invited to come pay respect, gather and heal.

Dress Attire: In keeping with Melissa's love of style and vibrance, you are welcome to wear any color attire of your choosing.

Melissa desired to be buried next to her sister, Maralee. The internment services will take place at a later date in Wisconsin at McFarson Cemetery.
