Celebrating the Life of Randall Marvin Henning (Randy)

Born in Milwaukee Wisconsin on June 15, 1948, he died peacefully on January 21, 2026, at his home in Paris, Wisconsin with family at his side. He was 77 years old. He is survived by his loving wife Claire Henning; his children Roy (Caroline) Henning, (James & William Henning), and Paul Henning, Marie Gursky, Jameie Johnson, Jennifer (Allan) Stone, Henry (Pam) Petrick, Larry (Shelly) Petrick, Frank (Katrina) Petrick, and numerous Grandchildren and Great Grand Children. He is further survived by his brother Gary (Cindy) Henning, niece and nephew Ashley (Christian) Miller and Steven Henning, and brother David (Brenda) Henning, niece and nephew Erin and Mathew.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin W Henning and Joyce J Henning.

Randy met his hero, Don Garlits when he was 12 years old and bought a signed picture of The Swamp Rat. He still has the photo and has had Don sign it several more times over the years.  This meeting cinched Randy's love of cars and racing.

In the late 60's Randy learned to repair VW engines and in 1970 he founded MoFoCo parts and service for VW and import cars.  MoFoCo became well known as a Volkswagen specialist and still operates today under the management of the Henning Sons.

During the 70's and through the mid 90's, Randy raced at many dragstrips across the country. He became well known racing his alcohol Funny Car "Starship Enterprise".

In 1994 Randy bought Great Lakes Dragaway in Kenosha County, WI.  It has been his life's work to keep GLD thriving and operating for the racing communities all over the United States. Randy and Claire enjoyed thousands of his friends, racers and race fans every day at Great Lakes Dragaway.  He treasured all of his friends and always had an open-door policy for anyone who came by. Most recently, Randy worked to help finalize the 2026 racing schedule finishing on 1/19/26 for the new season.

In 2006 Randy decided to complete an EMT Licensure. He took the courses and became a licensed EMT, volunteering for the town of Paris rescue and worked on the Emergency Response Team at Great Lakes Dragaway. Over the next few years Randy upgraded his license becoming an advanced EMT. He loved working on the rescue squad and being able to help out in his home community.

Randy's Family will host a Celebration of his life at the Great Lakes Dragaway Pavillion on Saturday, February 14th from 2pm till 6pm.

In lieu of flowers, any donations made in Randy's memory will be used to install memorial benches at the drag strip.
