Raymond Gene Young, a man of many passions and adventures, passed away on November 8, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of service and love. Born on February 23, 1947, in Wisconsin to his parents Raymond and Dorothy Young, Raymond had a deep sense of duty and commitment from a young age.

Raymond's life was filled with memorable moments, from his time as a Boy Scout leader in Racine, and in Washington State, to his service in the Navy where he completed two deployments. Raymond enlisted in February of 1965, and was sent out for active duty in June of 1965, throughout his time serving he was stationed in Philippine Islands, Tijuana and Long Beach. He completed his deployments and was discharged from the Navy in August of 1972. Raymond was awarded a Meritorious Unit Citation and a Good Conduct Medal. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enjoyment of hunting, fishing, and camping, especially during his trips to the Washington Mountains with his Boy Scout troops. One of his most memorable trips was taking his troop snow camping on Mt. Rainer.

After his time in the Navy, Raymond pursued a career as an Electronic Tech in the manufacturing industry, which took him on travels throughout the United States and Canada. Beyond his professional life, Raymond was known for his love of football and baseball, always finding joy in the camaraderie of sports.

He is survived by his daughter Dawn Young; brother Jeffrey (Sue) Torres; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces, and nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by his father Raymond Young, mother Dorothy Torres, stepfather Ramon Torres; sister Connie Rada, and brother-in-law Robert Rada.

In honor of Raymond's life, funeral services and ceremonies will be held to celebrate his memory and the impact he had on those around him. His dedication to his family, community, and country will always be cherished and remembered. Visitation will take place on Wednesday November 20 from 11 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home with his burial taking place immediately after at Southern Wisconsin Veteran Memorial Cemetery.  Rest peacefully, Raymond Gene Young.
