Union Grove - Richard L. Cooperman, 76, passed away on February 7, 2016 at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. Richard was born on November 4, 1939. He came to live with Walter and Mildred Oberg and their daughter, Rose (Zierke) when he was thirteen. He spent his early years with the Obergs on their family farm in Union Grove. He graduated from Rochester Agricultural School. He worked at Grove Gear until his retirement.

Richard loved to talk about his days on the farm, the Green Bay Packers, and the Wisconsin Badgers football and basketball teams. He would often be seen at McDonald's, Piggly Wiggly and other local haunts around the Union Grove area. Richard enjoyed planting flowers in his yard and he grew lovely house plants including African Violets and Christmas Cactus. He loved watching football and Hallmark movies on TV.

Richard was preceded in death by Walter and Mildred Oberg.

Richard will be dearly missed by his three brothers, James, Charles, and Jerry; many nieces and nephews; and especially his close friends, John and Carol Brock, Julie Moyer, and Rose Zierke.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Main Street in Union Grove on Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 11:30 am – 1 pm. Memorial services with Pastor David Ramirez officiating will begin at 1 pm. Burial will immediately follow in Burlington Cemetery on HWY W.
