Ingleside - Robert L. Ammer "Grandpap", age 89, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2021. He was born on July 29, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA to parents John and Stella (nee. Woznicki). From 1950-1953, Robert proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. While in the Army, he attained the rank of Corporal. Following his military service, he moved to Ingleside, IL and worked as a mechanic for many years.

Robert was a very big part of the Ingleside community. He was known as the neighborhood handyman and would always be there to help his friends and neighbors, whether it was helping with house repairs or cutting grass. Robert developed many long lasting friendships while there and loved living on Duck Lake. He enjoyed fishing, and also had a huge garden, growing many kinds of vegetables. Robert, or as his family lovingly called him, "Grandpap", will be remembered as a simple but loving and caring man and he will be dearly missed by those that knew him.

Robert is survived by his grandson, Daniel (Heidi) Jorudd; many other relatives, family, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2021 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm at Ringa Funeral Home, 122 S. Milwaukee Avenue, Lake Villa, IL. Memorial services and full military honors will immediately follow at 3:00 pm.
