Robert Leroy Skeans (Cotton), 78, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015 due to complications from a car accident at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital in Racine, WI. Cotton was born Oct. 1, 1937 in Pelican Lake, WI. He was born at home. After graduation he joined the Army where he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was with the Green Berets and in the CIA, where he was wounded. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Start. When he returned home he was involved with the MIA program. He spent many hours at the VA hospital in Milwaukee and Union Grove talking to and helping out with the wounded Vets. He loved participating in Veteran Day parades and in the Honor Guard at memorial services. Cotton loved helping people and doing for those less fortunate. He loved riding his Harley in all kinds of weather: summer, spring, fall, and winter with his beloved dog "Bam Bam" on the back. Everyone who knew Cotton loved him. He would help the ladies in the trailer court in Union Grove where he resided for over 20 years.

Survivors include two brothers, Floyd (Jan) Skeans of Florida, Dan Skeans of Minnesota; two sisters, Dela (Roger) Peterson of Florida, Ruby Anderson of Kenosha; many nieces and nephews; his long-time friend, Marianne Rickabaugh; and his beloved dog, "Bam Bam." He will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Jensen, father, Ora Skeans, three sisters, and two brothers.

A celebration of Robert's life will be held at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home on April 15, 2016 from 12 noon to 2:00 pm. A memorial service will begin at 2:00. Burial with full military honors at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove will be at 3 pm.
