Robert C. McCrae

Sturtevant – Robert Chester McCrae, age 84, passed away on September 12, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center in Mount Pleasant. He was born in Warren, Ohio on September 11, 1942, to parents Peter and Hazel (nee Johnson) McCrae.

Bob was a proud Air Force veteran having enlisted right out of high school. He went on to Kent State University and then graduated in 1974 from Calvary Bible College in Kansas City with an accumulation of 20 years of education and a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a devout Baptist and attended Calvary Baptist Church. Bob spent most of his life devoted to God, doing missionary work across several states. He was an independent missionary providing support in Northern Wisconsin at Camp Forest Springs and was also at the Salvation Army Camp Wonderland for 8 years. Bob worked for Shepherds Baptist Ministry in Union Grove for 15 years.

Bob was known for collecting Hallmark Christmas Ornaments and loved working with model trains.

Bob is survived by his siblings; Diane (Trevor) Young, Donna Auchter, Paul McCrae, Virginia Bartelt, and Roy McCrae; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Hazel McCrae; siblings, Barbara McCrae, John McCrae, Margaret Payne, and Melody Victor; and siblings in law, James Auchter, Markey McCrae, and Karl Bartelt.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 8 at 6 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 9122 Durand Avenue, Sturtevant. Full military honors will follow.

Bob will have inurnment at Pineview Memorial Park in Warren, Ohio at a future date.
